The International Conference on Knowledge and Innovation

Is an Inter-American Forum for the exchange of ideas, experiences, trends and strategies relevant to economic and social development based on knowledge and the promotion of the innovation ecosystems implementation.



The Conference  offers a striking program to professionals who work in the area of innovation and knowledge management, with managerial roles (decision makers) who are in charge of the design or implementation of strategies.

This list is not exhaustive, and we invite you to submit papers that address relevant topics related to the central theme of the congress, “Habitats of innovation and knowledge economy“.

Types of Submission

Interested in submitting an article, case study, or poster in the ciKi-2018?

The overview below gives you some guidance on the type of proposals that we welcome

12 to 15 page paper that presents the results from theoretical or empirical scientific research, including the presentation of the theoretical foundation, methodology used, research data, and analysis or discussion of results.

7 to 10 page paper that presents the results of an “experience”, either in the design, implementation, achievements, or learning of an initiative in any of the Conference topics.

CiKi 2018 will feature speakers internationally recognized for their extensive experiences in research, knowledge management and innovation. Below you will find the profiles of a few of the speakers:


Patrick Hyndman

M. Hyndman earned a Master’s Degree in International Relations from Laval University in Quebec. Director of International Partnerships (Science and Innovation Sector) at the Quebec Ministry of Economy, Science and Innovation. Former Director of Public Affairs representing Quebec in the United States.

Dr. Luis Felipe Maldaner

Director of UNITEC and CEO of the São Leopoldo Tech Park - Tecnosinos, with a Master's degree in Administration from the University of Vale of Rio dos Sinos - Brazil (2005) and PhD in Latin American Studies from the Hankok University of Foreign Studies - South Korea (2012). He has experience in the Administration, with an emphasis on the National Innovation System.

Dr. Luc Dancause

Founding Member of Sapiens Conseils in Quebec, Canada, and Consultant in Management and Knowledge Transfer. He is a Historian at Laval University with a Master’s Degree (M.Sc.) in Sociology from McGill University and a Doctorate (Ph.D) in Urban Studies from the University of Quebec in Montreal - UQAM. He has more than 17 years of experience in teaching, research, and consulting in this field.

Dr. Eysel Adolfo Chong

Graduate in Industrial Technology, with a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA), and Master’s degree in Formulation and Evaluation of Projects (MBA). Specialist in the fields of Impact Evaluation and sustainable effectiveness. Manager of Knowledge Management at the City of Knowledge Foundation (FCDS).

Dr. Luis Alberto Gutiérrez Díaz de León

PhD in Computational Sciences from the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes. General Coordinator of Information Technologies at the University of Guadalajara, and Chairman of the Network Development Committee of the University Corporation for Internet Development (CUDI). Founding member of the technology committee of the National Association of Universities and Institutions of Higher Education (ANUIES)

Dr. Jorge Rojas

Dr. Jorge Rojas is an Advisor to the Vice-Presidency for Research at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, supporting internationalization efforts as well as in charge of the Office for Postdoctoral Research. He is also a Justice at the Patent and Trademark Appeal Court in Chile, a Fellow Researcher at the UC Davis Center for Sciences and Innovation Studies, and a mentor at the UC Davis Institute of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and PUC´s Innovation Center.

José Lorenzo García-Baltasar García-Calvo

José Lorenzo García-Baltasar García-Calvo holds a degree in Political Science from the Complutense University of Madrid. He has been working in the field of international cooperation for development for over twenty years. Director at Spanish Cooperation Training Center in Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia).

Dr. María Guadalupe Macedo Espinosa

Ph.D. in food science and technology at Université Laval (Québec, Canada). Since 2008 she has been part of the team at the Office of Engagement and Support for Innovation (SePSI) of the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) in Québec, Canada. Guadalupe Macedo has an interest in innovation management (GI) and intellectual property management (IP), particularly in a context of open innovation

Juan Fernando Pacheco Duarte

Specialist in Social Management from UNIMINUTO, and Master in Planning and Administration of Regional Development from the University of the Andes. Manager of the Social Innovation Science Park at the Minuto de Dios University Corporation. Consultant for UNICEF in Integral Action against Antipersonnel Landmines and co-founder of the Engineers without Borders Colombia group (UNIMINUTO and the University of the Andes).

Dr. Luis Carlos Arraut Camargo

Director of the El Patio Laboratory of Creativity and Innovation and Director of the Master in Management of Innovation Program at the Technological University of Bolívar in Colombia. PhD in Business Studies from the University of Mondragón (Spain). Member of the Association of SMEs in Colombia and is part of the Board of Directors of that association in Cartagena, Colombia.

Dra. Andrea Valéria Steil

Psychologist with a Master’s in Administration and PhD in Production Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil. She coordinates the Interdisciplinary Nucleus of Studies in Knowledge, Learning, and Organizational Memory (KLOM) and the Laboratory of Learning, Knowledge, and Management in Organizations and Work (LABPOT)at the Federal University of Santa Catarina.

Master in Technological Innovation Business from the Universidad Panamericana Guadalajara Campus. Director of Spark UP, an incubator and business accelerator for companies of the Pan-American University Guadalajara Campus. She has collaborated in the development of business plans in countries such as Spain and the United States. She specializes in Commerce, Market Research, Strategic Planning, Entrepreneurship, and approval of business ideas.

Professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru - PUCP in the Center for Innovation and Business Development.
