Former Rector and Professor of Computer Architecture and Technology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), Chairwoman of BIOINFORMÀTICS BARCELONA (BIB).
Ana Ripoll has a degree in Physical Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) and Professor of Computer Architecture and Technology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), where she has also held the position of rector. She has worked in different areas of research and teaching within Computer Architecture and Parallel Processing. She has published more than one hundred articles in prestigious specialized magazines and international conferences, as well as being a member of various national and international committees and institutions. Recently she has dedicated herself to promoting the interaction between the disciplines of life sciences and computer science by creating Bioinformatics Barcelona (BIB), of which she is president.
BIB, which is a non-profit association, currently has more than 50 partner entities (universities, research centers, hospital research institutes, large scientific infrastructures, companies and other institutions), and its goal is to respond to the needs of the health and agri-food sectors in the field of bioinformatics.
She has been decorated with the distinction of the Civil Order of Alfonso X the Wise granted by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of Spain in 2016. Named Collegiate of Honor of the Official College of Computer Engineering of Catalonia in 2017. Awarded with the Woman ICT Award Academic-Researcher in 2017 and the Salvà i Campillo Award for Outstanding Personality in Telecommunications and Informatics in 2018.
