José Manuel is specialized in technology commercialization, technological entrepreneurship and knowledge-based development strategies. His activities are related to the design and development of entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems, technological entrepreneurship, commercialization of technology and development of programs for the creation of high-value companies. He has designed and orchestrated the development of the Technological Park Network of Tecnológico de Monterrey. He is currently focused on the development of areas and spaces for innovation.
Likewise, he has participated extensively in programs and activities to promote entrepreneurship from the university, through relationships with leading universities and organizations in the world such as Babson College, UC Berkeley, Stanford and UT Austin, among others. He is currently the leader of the GEM (Global Entrepreneurship Monitor) initiative for Mexico.
He has previously worked in the telecommunications and manufacturing sectors. He has been a founding partner of consulting companies serving firms in the United States and Latin America. His professional experience also includes more than 15 years as a specialist at universities such as Tecnológico de Monterrey and the University of Texas at Austin (through the IC2 Institute), with which he has carried out projects to develop knowledge-based economies and innovation ecosystems. , both in Latin America, in Europe and the United States.
His research has focused on the administration and commercialization of technology, technological entrepreneurship and regional development models based on innovation, among other topics. He has published in various media, including a book on the development of technology parks and another as co-author: “The Development of University-Based Entrepreneurship Ecosystems: Global Practices”.
José Manuel is an Electronics and Communications Engineer and a Master in Technology Administration from the Tecnológico de Monterrey, a Master of Science from the University of Texas at Austin and is currently a PhD candidate in Entrepreneurship at the University of Cantabria.
