Janice Bailey

Janice Bailey, co-chair of the Vancouver 2022 DOHaD World Congress, is currently the Scientific Director of the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Nature and Technologies (FRQNT). The FRQNT develops and promotes research in sciences, engineering and mathematics. The vision of the FRQNT is that diversified and collaborative research activities serve as a catalyst for well-being and sustainable prosperity, and an accelerator of adaptation to climate and biodiversity crises. In doing so, the FRQNT prioritises trainee support, interdisciplinary collaboration, research partnerships, and diversity in its approaches. Prior to joining the FRQNT, she was a professor of Animal Sciences & Research Associate Dean, Faculty of Agriculture & Food Sciences with an adjunct professorship in the Faculty of Medicine, Laval University (Québec City, Canada). As an active scientist for over 25 years, her research explored the impact of the environment, such as toxicant exposure, temperature and nutrition, on fertility, reproductive development and the ability to produce healthy offspring across multiple generations. She worked on a range of species, including bees, fish, wildlife, agriculturally-important mammals, laboratory rodents and human studies. Professor Bailey has been Chair or member of many grant review panels, has served on the editorial boards of several journals, and has been involved in the organisation of numerous international congresses. Over her career, she has been elected to executive governance roles in various national and international scholarly societies. She has served numerous government advisory roles and on the governing boards of research organisations. Professor Bailey has been recognized for her scientific contributions and leadership, and was recently appointed as a Distinguished Fellow of the Society for the Study of Reproduction.
